WHAT: “The Wall That Heals,” a 375-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, will receive a military escort on Interstate 81 N. at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8. It will be constructed at the state Capitol on Wednesday, May 9, and open to visitors, beginning with an opening ceremony at 7 p.m. The Wall will remain open through 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 13. The display will be open 24 hours a day and watched by volunteers and local veterans. Admission is free.

WHO: News personality Robb Hanrahan of CBS 21 will serve as the emcee for the opening event and former Gov. Tom Ridge will give the keynote address. The exhibit is being hosted by the Pennsylvania General Assembly and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.

WHEN: 
Tuesday, May 8, at Noon – Wall arrives on Commonwealth Avenue
Wednesday, May 9, at 7 p.m. – Opening Ceremony

WHERE:    Lawn outside of Irvis Office Building, Pennsylvania State Capitol, Harrisburg.

FULL SCHEDULE OF OPENING EVENTS:


Tuesday, May 8
11 a.m. – Wall leaves U.S. Army Heritage Center in Carlisle, travels I-81 North to Front Street, turns onto Forster Street, and then onto Commonwealth Avenue.
Noon – Wall arrives in front of Capitol fountain on Commonwealth Avenue.

Wednesday, May 9
8 a.m. – Construction of the wall begins and continues throughout the day on lawn in front of Irvis Office Building, at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and  Walnut Street.
7 p.m. – Opening ceremony featuring former Gov. Tom Ridge.
