Dec. 11, 2018 / Press Release
HARRISBURG – Rep. Craig Staats (R-Bucks) has been tapped to play a crucial role on the Majority House Policy Committee, which examines some of the most critical issues facing Pennsylvania and works to develop sound public policies to address them. His appointment for the 2019-20 legislative session was announced today by House Majority Policy Committee Chairman Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion/Armstrong/Forest).
“I am excited at the opportunity to tackle difficult issues, to hear from the people affected by them and play an active role in solving them,” said Staats. “The Policy Committee helps to shape the focus of major initiatives that are addressed in legislation. It is an honor to be a leader within this important committee and I look forward to the work ahead.”
Oberlander said the 10 deputies she selected for the committee reflect the geographic diversity of the Commonwealth while also providing a broad range of legislative, professional and community experiences.
“Rep. Staats’ business experience will be an enormous asset for the Policy Committee, as we continue to look for ways to help our job creators and assist communities in attracting economic opportunities,” Oberlander said. “I am thrilled Craig is a part of our policy team and look forward to hearing his thoughts and ideas.”
The House Majority Policy Committee conducts hearings and roundtable discussions about important statewide and regional issues that matter most to Pennsylvania citizens; gathers testimony and information from key stakeholders; and works within the House Republican Caucus to develop policies to address those issues. The Policy Committee also works in tandem with the speaker and majority leader to examine and refine critical pieces of legislation in advance of floor consideration.
