HARRISBURG - House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) issued the following statement regarding Gov. Tom Wolf’s proposed executive actions to curb overprescribing of opioids in the state’s Workers’ Compensation system:

“Governor Wolf once again has shown that he is all talk and no action. This is nothing more than an election-year stunt to delay action and appease his wealthy trial attorney friends.

“The Legislature took positive action by passing Senate Bill 936, which will combat the opioid crisis, protect injured workers, and rein in prescribing abuses within the Workers’ Compensation system. Drug formularies are commonplace in all facets of health insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program and every private group health insurance policy.

“Wolf should do the right thing and sign this bill. Otherwise, it is just further proof that he is not the good government boy scout he claims to be.”
