HARRISBURG – Rep. Stephen Bloom (R-Cumberland) today announced he has been appointed to serve on the House Judiciary Committee for the remainder of the 2017-18 legislative session.
“The Judiciary Committee addresses major issues that directly impact all Pennsylvanians,” Bloom said. “As a staunch defender of our constitutional liberties, I look forward to being on the front lines of discussions and action on legislation that ensures public safety and law and order, protects and enhances our Second Amendment rights, stops illegal immigration and sanctuary cities, curbs human trafficking, and reforms our legal system.”
The Judiciary Committee focuses on issues and legislation relating to the Judicial Code, the Crimes Code and the Domestic Relations Code. Some of the topics overseen by the committee include identity theft, firearms laws, domestic violence, child abuse laws, state prisons and criminal law.
The committee is chaired by Rep. Ron Marsico (R-Dauphin).
“I am looking forward to the addition of Rep. Bloom on the committee. He joins us with a pre-existing wealth of knowledge of the issues that the committee tackles and will certainly be an asset to us,” said Marsico.
Bloom also serves on the House Finance, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Environmental Resources and Energy committees. In addition, he serves as a deputy whip and as a deputy chair of the House Majority Policy.
