HARRISBURG – State Rep. Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland) today issued the following statement after Gov. Tom Wolf delivered his annual budget address in Harrisburg to a joint session of the state House and Senate:
“As we work to craft a state budget, lawmakers need to focus on promoting an economic environment that supports and empowers job creation. We need to reduce excessive over-regulation to unleash the job-creating potential of Pennsylvania employers.
“I applaud the governor’s efforts to find and reduce inefficiencies in state government. I think we can probably find ways to work together to streamline government and make it more efficient and effective.
“If we want to increase revenues to support our schools and fund other essential government sources, the best way to accomplish that is by growing our economy. When more employers open their businesses in Pennsylvania and more workers collect paychecks, tax revenues in the Commonwealth will increase without having to raise the rates. I’m optimistic about the future of Pennsylvania and believe our Commonwealth can flourish and prosper if we enact policies that enable private-sector growth and development.”
