Klunk Issues Statement on Passage of Down Syndrome Protection Bill

HARRISBURG ¬– The House Health Committee today approved Rep. Kate Klunk’s (R-Hanover) legislation to ensure life for babies with Down syndrome. Her legislation, House Bill 321, would include prenatal Down syndrome diagnoses as a legal reason why babies can’t be aborted in Pennsylvania. The bill now goes to the full House for a vote.

Grove Bill, Part of Package to Repeal Out-Dated Bills, Approved by House

HARRISBURG – The House on Wednesday approved legislation by Rep. Seth Grove (R-Dover) to repeal a decades-old act, which taxed stores and theaters and was ruled unconstitutional. Grove’s bill is part of a 29-bill package generated in the House to clear out antiquated acts. Twelve of the bills were approved by the House today.

Bernstine Bill Would Repeal Dormant PA Wealth Tax Law

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania House of Representatives this week approved legislation, authored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence), which would repeal a dormant law that he says could be used as a gateway to implement a state wealth tax on personal property.

House Fiscal Leadership Leads to Historic Revenue Returns

HARRISBURG – House Republicans held the line on state spending over multiple budget cycles, and now those smart fiscal policies are paying off. The House Appropriations Committee says revenue collections for the month of April were more than $4.4 billion, which is $465 million more than the Department of Revenue’s official estimate. For the 2018-19 fiscal year, general fund collections total $29.16 billion year-to-date, which is $828.5 million above the official revenue estimate.

House Committee Chairmen Get Commitment to Revisit Change to Start of Rifle Deer Season

HARRISBURG - Following their decision to change the first day of rifle deer season to the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s (PGCs) Board of Commissioners has agreed with a House Game and Fisheries Committee request to revisit the move next year. The announcement comes following a meeting in which Rep. Keith Gillespie (R-York), majority chairman of the committee, and Rep. Bill Kortz (D-Allegheny), the committee’s minority chairman, conveyed to the board the tremendous volume of complaints they and their House colleagues have received from hunters.
