HARRISBURG – With the Pennsylvania Supreme Court hearing oral arguments in a case that will partially determine the fate of Pennsylvania’s entry into the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a plan that will raise taxes on Pennsylvanians for turning their lights on and heating and cooling their homes, and devastate Pennsylvania’s growing energy economy, Pennsylvania House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) called on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to follow the law and continue the delay placed on Pennsylvania’s entry into RGGI by the Commonwealth Court while underlying legal merits are argued.

HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced his bill to ease unnecessary and costly testing burdens for employers has passed the House. House Bill 953, which would repeal Act 215 of 1965 known as the Frozen Dessert Law, overwhelmingly passed the House Monday.

HARRISBURG – Working to ensure military children aren’t left behind or disadvantaged when moving into school districts in Pennsylvania, the House Education Committee has unanimously approved a bill that would allow those children access to registration and enrollment at the same time it is open to the general population. Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) is a prime co-sponsor of House Bill 1094. She was the prime sponsor of similar legislation last session.

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Brian Smith (R-Jefferson/Indiana) today announced that the House Transportation Committee has approved his legislation to expand safety options for towing. House Bill 497 would allow the use of safety cables when towing vehicles. When two vehicles are connected by certain hitches or devices, current law requires safety chains to be equipped in order to prevent the tow bar from hitting the ground should the tow bar fail or become disconnected.
