Out of an abundance of caution for all Capitol staff, caucus employees and members, House voting session scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020, is canceled. A member of the House received a positive COVID-19 diagnosis earlier this morning. The member was last present in the Capitol on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020.

House Advances Topper’s Nurse Practitioners Legislation

HARRISBURG – Continuing efforts to ensure residents have access to quality health care, the House Professional Licensure Committee approved on Tuesday amended legislation by Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Franklin/Fulton) to improve Pennsylvania’s Professional Nursing Law.

Committee to Consider Four Education-Related Bills

WHAT: The House Education Committee, chaired by Rep. Curt Sonney (R-Erie), will hold a voting meeting to consider four proposals on a variety of education topics. They include measures that would create prekindergarten vision screenings and modify the current school vision screening schedule (House Bill 1342); establish the Back on Track Education Scholarship Account Program (House Bill 2696); provide for the removal of a student convicted or adjudicated delinquent of sexual assault against another enrolled student (Senate Bill 530); and establish a moment of silence in schools on the anniversaries of Sept. 11th and Pearl Harbor Day (Senate Bill 869).

House Moves Grove Bill to Improve Health Care Outcomes and Save Taxpayer Money

HARRISBURG – Legislation by Rep. Seth Grove (R-Dover) sets hefty, yet achievable, goals of saving taxpayers $150 million over next few fiscal years through targeted savings for the Medicaid outcome-based program, all while improving health care outcomes. It was approved by the House Health Committee today.

Grove Seeks Answers on COVID-19 Nursing Home Deaths

HARRISBURG – Seeking answers to Gov. Tom Wolf’s policy of allowing patients who tested positive to COVID-19 to be allowed to return to long-term care facilities, many of which were hotbeds of the virus, Rep. Seth Grove (R-Dover) filed a Right-to-Know (RTK) request with Wolf’s Department of Health.
