HARRISBURG – After U.S. District Judge Williams Stickman IV ruled Gov. Wolf’s gathering limits unconstitutional, a 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals allowed them to be put back into place. Gov. Wolf has since updated his gathering limit criteria, but it is still far from constitutional. Rep. Cook (R-Washington/Fayette) is outraged.

If it were not for the overwhelming voice of the people as expressed by their legislature in calling for spectators at school sports and a federal court opinion finding the previous congregate gathering limitations unconstitutional, it is likely Gov. Wolf would have not made any adjustments to his mandate.

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon), majority chairman of the House Urban Affairs Committee, today touted her legislation that would provide more substantive relief for renters and mortgage owners hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and urged her legislative colleagues to act quickly on House Bill 2868. The announcement came as Gov. Tom Wolf re-opened the COVID Relief-Mortgage and Rental Assistance Grant Program to accept applications until Wednesday, Nov. 4.

HARRISBURG – Today, the Pennsylvania Senate unanimously House Bill 1984, legislation led by House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) that stands up for rape victims and their families by removing the requirement of having an adoptive family lined up in order to terminate the rights of a perpetrator of rape or sexual assault that resulted in the birth of a child.

HARRISBURG – A resolution to reinstate Jim Thorpe as the sole gold medal winner of two Olympic events was advanced in a unanimous vote by the House Tourism and Recreational Development Committee today, according to Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon), prime sponsor of the legislation and a committee member. House Resolution 1001 now moves to the full House for consideration.
