Committee Approves Walsh Cash Gift Ban Bill

HARRISBURG – The House State Government Committee today reported out Rep. Justin Walsh’s (R-Westmoreland) legislation to ban public officials and employees from accepting cash gifts, prohibit the receipt of most gifts valued at $50 or more, and lower the threshold required to report hospitality, lodging and transportation.

Nesbit’s DNA Bills Advance Out of House Committee

HARRISBURG – Legislation that would better allow DNA technology to ensure the right criminals are behind bars was reported out of the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, according to the bills’ sponsor, Rep. Tedd Nesbit (R-Mercer/Butler).

House Children and Youth Committee to Consider Mandated Reporter, Adoption Bills

WHAT: The House Children and Youth Committee, led by Rep. Kathy Watson (R-Bucks/144th), will hold a voting meeting to consider House Bill 2641 (sponsored by Rep. Todd Stephens, R-Montgomery), which would increase the penalties for mandated reporters who continue to fail to report suspected child abuse and broadens the “continuing course of action” provision; and Senate Bill 1129 (sponsored by Sen. John DiSanto, R-Dauphin/Perry), which would expedite the procedures for the relinquishment or termination of parental rights in the course of the legal process to adopt a child in Pennsylvania.

Bill to Make Workers Aware of Their Rights Heads for Floor Vote, Klunk says

Kate Klunk (R-York) to require government employers to alert impacted workers of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Janus vs. AFSCME decision.

House Insurance Committee to Hold Voting Meeting, Learn More about Consumer Access

WHAT: The House Insurance Committee, led by Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna), will hold a voting meeting to consider Senate Bill 1003, which would require reimbursement for emergency medical services (EMS) by prohibiting a managed care plan from denying a claim solely because the patient/enrollee was not transported or refused to be transported. Additionally, the proposal would require Medicaid to pay for the same services required under this act and require sufficient funds be appropriated each fiscal year for the payment of the services.

Barrar and Committees to Consider Certification of Fire Equipment Distributors
