Adams Announces Committee Assignments
3/8/2023
HARRISBURG – Rep. Joe Adams (R-Pike/Wayne) has announced his assignment to the Finance, Game and Fisheries, and Local Government committees for the 2023-24 Legislative Session.

“I look forward to getting to work on my committees,” Adams said. “They determine the legislation that will ultimately come to the floor of the House, where my fellow lawmakers and I can determine how to better assist all Pennsylvanians. I look forward to the mix of committees I have been assigned to, as each committee is instrumental in the functioning of this body and important for our district.”

The Finance Committee oversees matters relating to taxation and fiscal policy, investment of the Commonwealth’s money and regulations of the Department of Revenue. In addition, it reviews legislation dealing with the operation of the Pennsylvania Lottery, as well as bills regarding the Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program and the Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly (PACE) Program, both of which are funded by the lottery.

The House Game and Fisheries Committee receives and reviews annual performance and status reports from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. It also addresses a variety of legislation aimed at improving the outdoors experience in the Commonwealth.

Generally, the Local Government Committee reviews legislation that would amend the municipal codes and the county codes by which local governments operate. Pennsylvania has more than 2,500 local government units of all sizes. The committee also works closely with the Local Government Commission, a bipartisan legislative service agency that provides research assistance on issues pertaining to local governments.

The 139th Legislative District is comprised of parts of Pike and Wayne counties, consisting of the townships of Blooming Grove, Dingman, Greene, Lackawaxen, Milford, Palmyra (Pike), Shohola, Westfall, Cherry Ridge, Dreher, Lake, Lehigh, Paupack, Palmyra (Wayne), Salem, South Canaan and Sterling, and the boroughs of Matamoras, Milford and Hawley.
