Grove Commends Move by Governor Tom Wolf to Increase Government Efficiency
2/5/2015
HARRISBURG – Rep. Seth Grove (R-York) today commended Gov. Tom Wolf, who announced an executive order aimed at improving government efficiency. The new Office of Transformation, Innovation, Management and Efficiency will be tasked with finding ways to modernize government. The creation of this new office echoes the goal of House Bill 11, authored by Grove, who released the following statement:

“This new office created by Governor Wolf was preceded by the Office of Innovation, which has been highly successful, saving state taxpayers more than $690 million through the adoption of lean management principles which are intended to increase government efficiency. A similar approach has also saved money for the United States Department of Defense. I commend the governor for taking this approach to the next level through the creation of this new office.

“House Bill 11 would extend this approach to municipalities across the state, by providing training to local governments in lean management practices. I believe the result of this legislation would be the improvement of local government for constituents by providing services in a more effective and efficient manner. This approach would help keep municipalities from entering financial distress and help those already experience hardship rise above it.

“This bill has been referred to the House Urban Affairs Committee. With an enhanced approach already on its way to state government, I hope members recognize the value additional efficiency would have for our local governments.”
