Tobash to Serve as a Deputy Chair of the House Majority Policy Committee
HARRISBURG – The House Majority Policy Committee announced this week that Rep. Mike Tobash (R-Schuylkill/Dauphin) will serve as a deputy policy chair for the committee during the 2015-16 legislative session.

“It is an honor to have been selected to serve on a committee that is so relevant to the future of every Pennsylvanian,” Tobash said. “As a deputy policy chair, I am looking forward to guiding the direction of the legislation that will be acted upon throughout the next two years.”

The committee travels across the state, conducting hearings and roundtable discussions about important issues to gather testimony and information from key stakeholders. Tobash will attend these hearings and work with his colleagues in the House Republican Caucus to develop policies to address those issues.

“As chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee, I am pleased to have Representative Tobash serve as a deputy chair, and I look forward to working with him as we develop policies to benefit the people of Pennsylvania,” said Policy Committee Chairman Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin). “The committee selected Tobash due to his extensive work on one of the largest issues that affects Pennsylvanians, the public pension debate, and we plan to benefit from his knowledge on that topic.”

Tobash is specifically interested in working with his colleagues to improve our public education system, and to stabilize and reform the state’s public pensions.

“Pennsylvania’s public pension debt – now totaling more than $50 billion – continues to increase, and I believe enacting meaningful reform is the most important policy issue facing our state,” Tobash explained. “I look forward to continuing our work on this issue.”
