HARRISBURG- Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York) was reelected by his colleagues today to a third term as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as House Appropriations Committee chairman for another session,” said Saylor. “Together, we have held the line on taxes and kept spending restrained. I am confident that our caucus will continue to be a leader in good government reform, private sector job creation, and fiscal responsibility next session.”
Saylor has served as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee since 2017. The Appropriations Committee consists of 22 majority members and 15 minority members. The committee is tasked with developing the annual state budget and reviewing legislation for fiscal impact.
In his time as chairman, Saylor has worked to keep spending levels low, opposed Gov. Tom Wolf’s tax increase plans, increased transparency, started the process of performance-based budgeting and promoted private sector job creation.
“It is no secret the Commonwealth faces some tough challenges with respect to the budget. We as a Republican Caucus plan to hit the ground running in order to pass a balanced budget that is fiscally responsible and respectful of the taxpayer,” Saylor said.
