HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jim Cox (R-Berks/Lancaster) today in Harrisburg voted for a bill that would legalize in Pennsylvania the use of medical cannabis to help children suffering from seizures, patients who have cancer and individuals with other specified health conditions. Following the vote, Cox made the following statement:

“This bill provides hope for children suffering from seizures, chronically ill cancer patients and other sick Pennsylvanians who could benefit from the medical use of cannabis.

“This legislation is based on the conservative principle that government should not stand between doctors, patients and the medicine that can help heal them.

“Doctors should decide if the relief available through medical cannabis is the appropriate remedy for specific conditions.

“I urge Governor Wolf to take swift action by signing this bill into law and providing the hope of healing relief to Pennsylvanians in need.”
