Mar. 16, 2016

HARRISBURG – Rep. Karen Boback (R-Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming) issued the following statement after the House voted to send a supplemental budget bill to the governor. This bill would complete the remaining 13 percent of the 2015-16 budget, which includes restoring funds to education, agriculture and hospital line items.

“I am encouraged by the bipartisan passage of the supplemental budget. This is the fifth time I have voted to release education funding and ensure that schools stay open. Today’s actions also ensure that important agriculture programs, like the Penn State Extension as well as 4-H programs, are not faced with dire consequences.

“My hope is that Gov. Wolf will sign this bill so we are able to close the current budget and continue our work on the 2016-17 budget. Many Pennsylvanians will be affected if this budget situation is not soon resolved. Today’s actions were an important step in ensuring those negative impacts are not realized.”
