Mar. 16, 2016

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jack Rader (R-Monroe) issued the following statement after the House passed a supplemental budget that completes the unresolved 2015-16 budget. This bill includes an increase in education funding without any additional taxes.

“It is very important that we close out this budget before we begin substantive work on the 2016-17 plan. I am encouraged by the passage of this supplemental budget that will allow our schools to continue operating and increases our state’s investment in education. This legislation restores many of the governor’s cuts, including those to agriculture and hospital line items.

“Once again, we have sent a fair and responsible budget to Gov. Tom Wolf’s desk. I hope our governor signs this budget so we are able to move forward. There will be drastic consequences for families across Pennsylvania if our schools are forced to close. Today, the House took a significant step in ensuring that does not happen.”
