HARRISBURG – State Rep. Eli Evankovich (R-Westmoreland/Allegheny), a third-term member of the House of Representatives, would like to accept Gov. Tom Wolf’s recent invitation to have a conversation on the budget in order to make progress and come to a real solution to end the budget crisis.
Evankovich offers that no staff would be present, but that the discussion would take place between two officials that have been elected to serve the Commonwealth. Unlike the “behind closed doors” negotiations that have taken place to date, Evankovich requests that the discussion be open to the media and perhaps to the public.
“Governor Wolf and I are both business men who happen to be trapped in this world of government,” said Evankovich. “We can hopefully make progress by sitting down together in front of those that we work for to give the governor a chance to sell the benefits of his budget and tax proposals to me and the people of my district.
“I respect the governor’s willingness to sit down and discuss these issues that are so important to the people of Pennsylvania. I hope that he will accept my invitation to conduct the people’s business in an open and transparent way, as we both vowed to do while running for public office,” Evankovich added.
