YORK – On May 2, Pennsylvania State Rep. Seth Grove (R-York) announced he will not seek a 10th term to represent, what he dubbed, “the Fighting 196th” Legislative District.
“While this opportunity bestowed upon me 17 years ago has been one of the greatest honors of my life, it is time to step aside and close this chapter. I will not be seeking reelection in 2026,” said Grove in a video posted to his social media accounts.
First elected in 2008, Grove hit the ground running, introducing 48 bills in his first term alone. This momentum set the tone for a remarkable legislative career. Over his nine terms, he introduced over 350 bills, 22 of which were signed into law and three vetoed. Grove also named eight bridges, a road and a roundabout in honor of fallen heroes from his district.

Grove’s leadership was evident throughout his career, having chaired four key committees: Labor and Industry, Appropriations, State Government and Government Oversight – the last of which was established through his own initiative with House Bill 2026 of 2018.
Grove swiftly emerged as a leading voice for conservative values, championing gun rights, the sanctity of life, school choice, election integrity, tax reform and the principles of government accountability and transparency.
