HARRISBURG – Rep. Marc Anderson (R-York) released this statement following House passage of the FY 2025-26 state budget:

“Since I took office, my priority regarding our budget has been fiscal responsibility. This agreement is anything but that. The non-partisan Independent Fiscal Office estimates current net revenues will be $44 billion in Fiscal Year 2025-26. That means, this proposed budget of $50.1 billion will spend $6 billion more than the state takes in. As I have repeatedly said, we must not spend more than we bring in, so I was a “no” vote on the budget.

“Our state government has a constitutional obligation to provide a balanced budget. To cover the difference in this year’s budget, we will have to deplete the state’s reserves of $3 billion and implement a tax increase of $1,500-$2,000 per PA family within the next two years. Your family would not budget this way, and our government should not either. This is an irresponsible way to budget, and I could not in good conscience support this agreement.”
