HARRISBURG – Rep. Tom Quigley (R-Montgomery) was named a member of the House Education Committee’s Subcommittee on Higher Education by Committee Chairman Stan Saylor (R-York). He will serve with three other members.

In this position, Quigley will help to offer a specific focus on details of legislation regarding higher education and vet bills on this issue prior to them coming to the committee for a vote. Along with other members of the subcommittee, he will also hold field and public hearings to gather information on education issues.

“It will be a privilege to serve the Caucus and the residents of the Commonwealth in this capacity,” Quigley said. “Having observed the positive impact of Montgomery County Community College in the Pottstown area, I am motivated to work on legislation that will benefit the higher education institutions in Pennsylvania and the students who attend them.”

The House Education Committee primarily reviews legislation that establishes rules regarding student aid, higher education in the Commonwealth, basic education, special education, school personnel and libraries.

In addition to serving on the House Education Committee, Quigley also serves on the House Consumer Affairs, Finance and Human Services committees.
