Flick Votes ‘Yes’ on Budget After Negotiated Improvements

July 12, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union) issued this statement following his vote on the 2026-27 state budget:

“In the past, I’ve long explained the decision making we as lawmakers must consider when casting our votes. This budget once again caused me to go back and forth. I ultimately decided to vote ‘yes’ on it because House Republicans spent months negotiating for significant improvements.

“Let’s start with the amount the budget spends, which is $50.8 billion. That number is $2.5 billion less than what was originally proposed and while it’s still too high, it does demonstrate some fiscal responsibility.

“Second, I like to see we dedicated $775 million to roads and bridges, supporting projects that have been awaiting critical funding.

“Importantly, we also avoided a lengthy delay this year. When budgets are delayed, I understand who feels the impact first. It's our schools, human service providers, local communities and the countless Pennsylvanians who depend on critical state funding.

“We are fortunate that the Commonwealth took in more than $1 billion beyond revenue estimates in this previous fiscal year. Moving forward, we need to continue to support policies that encourage economic growth, create opportunities and put Pennsylvania on a strong financial path.

“I want to say thank you to House Republican Leader Jesse Topper (R- Bedford/Fulton) and House Republican Appropriations Committee Chairman Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana) for their diligent negotiations through the budget process.”
