Public Hearing on Accountability, Justice in Second-Degree Murder Sentencing

WHAT: House Republican Policy Committee Chairman David H. Rowe (R-Snyder/Union/Mifflin/Juniata), Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Moon Township), Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington), Rep. Jeremy Shaffer (R-Allegheny), and other lawmakers will host a hearing titled “Protecting Pennsylvania: Accountability and Justice in Second-Degree Murder Sentencing” to examine how Pennsylvania can establish a statutory second-degree murder sentencing framework that holds offenders accountable, protects the public, and gives victims’ families a meaningful voice.
WHO: Testifiers will include Stella Getgen, wife of Todd Getgen (written testimony to be read aloud); Christine Hickman, sister of Todd Getgen (written testimony to be read aloud); Ronald M. Wabby, Jr., deputy district attorney, Critical Case Review Unit, Appellate Division; Nicole Ziccarelli, district attorney, Westmoreland County; and Robert Manzi Jr., district attorney, Indiana County.
