HARRISBURG – Working to ensure that the state’s insurance laws are fairly protecting consumers, Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) has been again selected to serve as chairman of the House Insurance Committee, a position she held for a majority of the previous legislative session.

Today’s appointment was announced by Speaker-Designate of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny).

“I am pleased to have been chosen to continue my service with the House Insurance Committee, and I look forward to working on many of the ongoing issues we addressed last session,” Pickett noted. “Insurance is often extremely complex but necessary in today’s world, and that is why it is critical to ensure we have the right laws in place. I am excited to continue examining many of the issues we studied last session and to work on ways to ensure this industry is operating at the highest levels of integrity.”

In the most recent legislative session, the House Insurance Committee has focused on the insurance implications of experimental ride-sharing operations like Uber and Lyft, as well as the extension of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and simplifying the way in which auto insurance and homeowner insurance customers are transferred between corporate affiliates.

Prior to serving in the lead role for the Insurance Committee, she chaired the House Gaming Oversight Committee, and during her tenure, was a member of several leading House committees including Transportation, Consumer Affairs, Transportation, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, among others. She has served the 110th District since 2001.
