Dec. 13, 2018 / Press Release

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jeff Wheeland (R-Lycoming) announced today that he has been appointed by Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion/Armstrong/Forest) to serve, along with nine of his House Republican colleagues, as a deputy Policy Committee chairman on the House Majority Policy Committee for the 2019-20 legislative session.

“Through his service at the local level and with his businesses, Rep. Wheeland brings a wealth of real-world experience to the Policy Committee,” Oberlander said. “I am excited to have Jeff as a part of our team and look forward to his insights about how we can continue to develop responsible policies that will help our residents and communities.”

The House Majority Policy Committee conducts hearings and roundtable discussions about important statewide and regional issues that matter most to Pennsylvania citizens; gathers testimony and information from key stakeholders; and works within the House Republican Caucus to develop policies to address those issues. The Policy Committee also works in tandem with the speaker and majority leader to examine and refine critical pieces of legislation in advance of floor consideration.

“I am incredibly thankful to be given this opportunity to lend a business owner’s perspective to the committee as we craft legislation that affects our entrepreneurs and job creators,” said Wheeland. “My time has been spent working to get government out of the way of the private sector, from international natural gas companies to small business vape shops, and I will continue to push for policies that can unleash the economy here in Pennsylvania.”
