Miccarelli Wants Freeze on PASSHE Tuition

Jeff Pyle (R-Armstrong/Butler/Indiana), the House Majority Policy Committee will host an educational hearing in Armstrong County to discuss the differences between conventional natural gas wells and unconventional shale gas wells in anticipation of the state’s new forthcoming Chapter 78 regulations. The hearing will also include a discussion on the pipeline construction needed to bring natural gas to power plants in order for the energy generation sector to meet new EPA air quality regulations and the obstacles currently blocking that endeavor.

Parker and Daley Push Redistricting Reform as State Government Committee Holds Meeting on their Bill

HARRISBURG – Tuesday, Reps. David Parker (R-Monroe) and Mary Jo Daley (D-Montgomery) held a Capitol press conference to highlight their legislation, House Bill 1835, which proposes a constitutional amendment to change the way that legislative and congressional district boundaries are drawn. Quinn to be Sworn in Thursday at Capitol

WHAT: Rep.-elect Chris Quinn (R-Delaware) will take the oath of office this week to fill the 168th District House seat vacated by Tom Killion. Delaware County Judge James Nilon Jr. is set to administer the oath to Quinn, beginning at 11 a.m. in the House chamber. The 168th Legislative District includes Media and Chester Heights boroughs, as well as Middletown, Edgmont, Newtown, Upper Providence and Thornbury townships, and part of Marple Township.

DEP Releases Update on Zika Surveillance and Response, Says Simmons

NORRISTOWN – The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today released results of surveillance for Aedes mosquitoes, which have been found to be transmitters of the Zika virus, said Rep. Justin Simmons (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton). At this time, there have not been any cases of Zika transmitted locally in Pennsylvania, nor have mosquitoes tested positive for the virus.
